David S. Hopson (2012)
David S. Hopson attended College from 1985 to 1989, and distinguished himself as both an athlete and a student He played several positions on the football team, including wide receiver, quarter-back, running back and kicker under the leadership of Coach James Owens. Mr. Hopson was also member of the baseball team under the direction of Coach Anthony Colvin. As a baseball player, Mr Hopson was selected as MVP Defensive Player of the Year and All Conference Player in his senior year. As a football pLayer, he was recognized for returning the longest field goal of 54 yards, which at the time was the longest pass play from scrimmage of 90 yards. David Hopson was on the Dean’s List three out of four years at Miles College. After graduation, he was drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League and he spent two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the National Football League. David Hopson is employed as Regional Manager for Aramark, Inc. He has served as a coach at Wenonah High School for the past 12 years and is Vice President of the Birmingham Flag Football League. David Hopson has waited for induction into the Miles College Sports Hall of Fame since graduation. He considers this honor as the best award he has ever received.
