Dionne Michelle Williams (2012)
Dionne Williams is proud to be a Miles College Golden Bear! She attended Miles College on an athletic scholarship and was a member of the volleyball, basketball, tennis and track and field teams, under the direction of coaches Dotson, Colvin and Patterson. Her playing days included selection by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (“SIAC”) to the All-Conference and All-Tournament volleyball teams. Dionne Williams graduated from Miles College in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, and earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration at Alabama A&M University in Normal, Alabama. Ms. Williams works as a Business/Marketing teacher, head volleyball coach and assistant girls’ basketball coach at Center Point High School. This is a dual position which requires classroom teaching and oversight along with sport teams coaching and direction. As a teacher, Dionne Williams instructs students in business courses including business technology applications, multimedia design and accounting. As volleyball and basketball coach, she strives to teach the values of responsibility and teamwork to the team members. Ms. Williams was again honored by the SIAC when she was named Coach of the Year in 2001. The girls’ basketball team won the 5A State Championship in 2011. She was featured in the 2005-2006 edition of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. A Birmingham native, Dionne Williams is married to Richmond Williams, and they are the proud parents of two sons, Jarvis and Omari. Ms. Williams is a deaconess at the Sixth Avenue Baptist Church and a member of the William Sims Usher Board. She also works with the Police Athletic Team in Ensley as a Coach/Bookkeeper. Ms. Williams also finds time to volunteer at nursing homes. Dionne Williams works to instill in her students the character traits of reliability and dependability, and these are traits she has shown in her life and as a member of the Miles College family.
