Donald Mixon (2007)
Donald Mixon was born on December 7, 1948 to Theophilus and Johanna Mixon. Although Donald was the last born of ten children and the eighth son, he was frequently the first to experience many things. For example, he was the first child born in the hospital; he was the first to attend a high school other than Brighton, making him the only Mixon to graduate from Westfield High School. He was the first of two brothers to be hired by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and he was the first black Federal Disease Intervention Specialist to be assigned to the State of Alabama. Donald was recruited by Arthur “Pete” Wilkins to play football at Westfield High School where he played quarterback for three years. He went on to play football at Miles College. Donald is a devoted husband to fellow Milean, Linda Bridges and father to daughter, Myya and son, Taylor. The family moved from Washington, D.C. to Atlanta, Georgia in 1998.
