Edgar Harper (2008)

Edgar Harper graduated from Miles College in 1958. He has brought honor and recognition to Miles College through his philanthropic efforts which have caused the institution to grow and flourish. He is the principal organizer and co-founder of the "Miles College Alumni Task Force." For the last fourteen years, he has coordinated the rental of chartered buses and developed a ridership of Miles College Alumni for all of the away Miles College football games. The goal of the Task force is to display a visible group of Miles College fans, adorning purple and gold to lend support to the Miles College Golden Bears Football Team in enemy territory. He was President of Miles College National Alumni Association for four years and as such was a member of  the Miles College Board of Trustees. He is an active member of the Miles College Birmingham Alumni Association and the Miles College Booster Club, Inc. He also retired from the Social Security Administration with 39 years of Service. He was the former President of the Huntsville Community Courtesy Club for 20 years. He is a member of the Sixth Avenue Baptist Church where he serves on the Deacon Board and is a member of the Male Chorus. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
