Edward (Ed) McCall Sr (1980
I attended Fairfield Industrial High School from 1956 to 1960. During these years I was a member of the football and basketball teams. During my tenure in high school sports, I received a variety of awards:
 
Freshman
  • Varsity basketball player
Sophomore
  • Honorable Mention basketball
  • Honorable Mention football
  • Varsity football player
  • Varsity basketball player
Junior year
  • Honorable Mention football
  • All County basketball
  • MVP of the all county basketball team
  • Leading Scorer
Senior year
  • 1st Team All County football
  • 1st Team All County basketball
  • MVP of All County basketball team
  • Leading Scorer
Upon completion of high school, I signed with the Chicago White Sox the following summer but was released. After returning to Fairfield, Alabama, I was offered a full athletic scholarship to attend Miles College. I accepted the offer and embarked upon a  successful athletic career. I played football and basketball at the collegiate level and received several athletic honors.

  • 1st Team All Georgia Invitational Tournament (GIT)
  • 1st Team All NAIA Tournament (Savannah, Georgia)
  • 1st Team All NAIA Tournament two consecutive years (Birmingham, Alabama)
  • All SIAC Football (First Team)
  • Captain of the football team (senior year)
  • Athlete of the decade at Miles College
In 1965 I graded from Miles College with a B.S. in Sociology and B.A. in Physical Education. I returned to Fairfield Industrial High School to teach during the summer of 1966.
 
Soon after assuming this teaching position, I signed a contract to play professional football for the San Francisco 49ers. I remained with this franchise until 1968, when I signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. After playing with the Bengals for a year, I retired and contracted to play basketball for the Cincinnati Royals.
 
During the off seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and Royals, I worked as a Job Placement Coordinator with Opportunities and Industrialization Center. While under their employment, I was named top placement specialist and was promoted to Industrial Relations Supervisor. I later worked for Warner Cable Communication Sales Division.
 
After Warner, I became an enterprenuer.
I owned and managed 132 Apartment Units.
I have experience in Marketing, Sales and Leasing apartments.
 
I am now in Fairfield Industrial High School's "Hall of Fame" Fairfield, Alabama.
