George A. Thomas (2008)
George A. Thomas graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in Georgia, where he played football, baseball, and basketball.He was the recipient of a football scholarship to Miles College and played line backer and strong safety in
1977, 1978 and 1980. He was a member of the 1977 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAC) Co-Champion Football team. He was a 1980 Defensive Player of the Week (Agents Fort Benning). He has worked in the Commercial Real Estate industry. For the past 15 years, he has been employed at Cousins Properties, Inc., in Atlanta, Georgia as an Engineer. He was promoted to Senior Chief Engineer, currently managing a prestigious “King and Queen Building” at the Concourse Office Park, which totals over 1.3 million square feet. He was recognized by Cousins Properties, Inc., in 2003 as the Chief Engineer of the Year. Over the past 20 years, he has been actively involved in volunteering on several projects which include the Fulton Atlanta Community Action Authority, Inc. (FACAA). The Annual Christmas Day, “Feed The Elderly Project,”“The East Lake Foundation,”“Playgrounds for Children Project,”“The Cherish House,” and “The Building Homes Project” for low income Atlantans. He is a member of Allen Temple AME Church in Kennesaw, Georgia.
