Henry C. Pope (2019)
Henry Conelius Pope, I am married to Shannon N. Pope, and the father of three girls, Deontranise, Denetris and Camryn, and continue to reside in the greater Birmingham area. I am an operations officer for the Birmingham City School District, where I serve as the Director of Athletics. I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics Education from Miles College in 2000, where I became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, Sigma Chapter in Spring of 1998. I was a four-year starter on the football team as an inside linebacker from 1996-1999, leading the team in tackles for three years, and serving as captain for two years.After graduation, I began teaching mathematics in the Birmingham City School System, where I served as defensive coordinator and school athletic director for Wenonah High School for 14 years. My coaching career culminated in 2016 when I was named district AD after finishing the season as a 2016 Alabama High School Athletic Association 5A Football State Runner-up. I am a member of with Pi Upsilon Sigma Graduate Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma, Fraternity Incorporated. I have a Master of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction of Mathematics, and currently writing my dissertation in pursuit of my Education Doctoral Degree in Athletic Administration.
