Jessica Insel (2008)
Jessica Insel is a shining example of excellence through her academic and athletic achievements as a member of the Miles College Class of 2008. Through the athletic scholarship she received from Miles College, Ms. Insel participated at a utility player on the softball team for four years. She also played volleyball for two years. She played under coach Patrick Peasant and gave all she had on the playing field. Jessica Insel was selected for the All-Conference Academic Team for four years and was on the President’s List. She also joined Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Jessica Insel graduated Magna Cum Laude from Miles College and now works as a First Grade Teacher in Atlanta, Georgia. Since college, Jessica Insel has been a volunteer basketball and softball coach and Hands on Birmingham volunteer. She also serves as a tutor for at-risk children. Jessica Insel cites the generosity shown to her by Miles College in awarding a scholarship as the motivating factor in giving all she had physically and mentally as an athlete and student. She continues to represent Miles College in her career and everyday life as a proud Milean and Golden Bear.
