Joseph L. King, Jr. (2008)
Joseph L. King, Jr., attended Miami South Ridge Senior High School where he played basketball and football. He received a scholarship to Miles College where he played three years of basketball from 2002 2005. He played forward and guard. He received the following awards and achievements: Dean’s List - 2003 and 2004, all conference three consecutive years and for three consecutive years was runner up as player of the year for the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), and second leading scorer for a single game in 2004 - 2005 with 38 points. He played in the Black College All American All-Star Game in Cleveland, Ohio in 2004 and was the second Milean to do so, NCAA Division II All American in 2005, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) leading scorer in 2005 with 19.8 points a game. Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) leading rebounder in 2005 with 12.2 boards a game. First team All South Region in 2005. Top 25 scorer in NCAA Division II and 17th in the nation. Top ten rebounder NCAA Division II and seventh in the nation. Ranked number five in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) in field goal pct. He served as a Spiritual Guidance Counselor for the Miles College Basketball Team. He played professional basketball in Europe. Joe’s community involvement since college includes, Youth Leader in the “World Changes Church International”. Worked as a volunteer for the Miami Heat Basketball Camp.
