Marvin Irving (2012)
Marvin Irving came to Miles College as a scholarship student and became a member of the Golden Bears football team. From 2000 to 2005, Mr. Irving played in the position of center, under the leadership of Coaches Cecil Leonard and Wade Streeter. His efforts on the football field were recognized by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) in 2002, when he was selected as Top Lineman of the Year In 2004, the SIAC named Mr. Irving Offensive Lineman of the Year and selected him to the All Conference First Team. Marvin Irving became a semi-professional football player and continued his accomplishments on the football field. He joined the Central Florida Thoroughbreds, now known as the Gainesville Gators, in 2007. The team won the SEFL Championship in the 2006 -2007 season, and the AAA MFLN National Championships in 2006 and 2008. Mr Irving was also selected as a Southern Amateur Football Association Colonial Conference All- Star in 2012, and represented his team and associated conference. Marvin Irving says Miles College and its football program made him a better person and helped him prepare for life after college.
