Melvin Carter (2012)
Melvin L Carter Jr attended Miles College from 1975 -1980. He attended Miles College as a football scholarship recipient. Under the guidance of coach Earl Cheatham, Mr Carter contributed to the success of the Golden Bears as a running back and wide receiver. Mr. Carter distinguished himself as a student athlete by being voted to the Who Who among college students, and Chapter President of Gamma Kappa Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Mr Carter earned his Bachelors Degree in Biology, and went on to work for Merck & Co Inc for 22 years. He currently works for Unitron Hearing as a Medical Device Account Executive. Mr Carter values community service and embraces the opportunity to offer his services at his church, Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, in Phoenix AZ, the 100 Black Men of Phoenix, and as a coach for little league football. Mr Carter views his experience at Miles College as a character building moment in his life that instilled a work ethic and positive attitude that has propelled him to significant accomplishments in life.
