ROOSEVELT.WILLIAMS (2011)
Roosevelt Williams is a graduate of the Miles College Class of 1981. He came to Miles College on a supplemental athletic scholarship and played on the Golden Bears baseball team for four years under head coaches Larry Brown and Ronald Cook. Roosevelt Williams was voted Captain of the baseball team in 1980 and 1981. He was selected as Most Valuable Player and Hitting Champion in 1981 and was part of the SIAC All Conference player and Tournament Champion Team that year. Indeed, Roosevelt Williams was a candidate for the Major League Baseball draft in 1981. Since graduation, Roosevelt Williams served as an active member of the Buck Village All-Stars in the Birmingham Industrial League for over twenty years. He was a volunteer baseball coach with American Legion Post #347 in Fairfield, Alabama from 2005 to 2008. Roosevelt Williams dedicated himself to his chosen sport at Miles College and strove to make a difference on the playing field.
