He was a valued member of the football team from 1985 - 1990, under the direction of Coaches Harris, Owens and Smith. Playing as an outside linebacker, Mr Bellamy proudly wore #20 and earned honors on the football team as Defensive Freshman of the Year in 1985 - 1986 and as Most Valuable Defensive Player in 1987 - 1988. He served as Team Captain from 1987 to 1990. Steven Bellamy was also recognized by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference through his selection to the 2nd Team All-Conference in 1987 - 1988, as Most Valuable Defensive Player in 1988 - 1989 and Most Valuable Player of the Year in 1989 - 1990 seasons. Mr. Bellamy participates in community service projects as a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and has coached soccer at the local YMCA. Steven Bellamy recalls the financial difficulties experienced by Miles College during his attendance, which caused many students to transfer to other schools. He chose to remain at Miles College out of loyalty to his teammates and the school that took a chance on him.
