TRAMARCUS J. JONES (2011)
TraMarcus J. Jones showed strong as a Miles College Golden Bear and in his academic endeavors. He came to Miles College on an athletic scholarship and was part of the basketball and the cross-country track teams. He played in the positions of forward and center for four years on the basketball team. Roosevelt Sanders and Abe Burton were his coaches. While engaging in rigorous studies though the honors curriculum programs, Mr. Jones earned recognition for his academic and sports endeavors. TraMarcus Jones maintained a 3.6 GPA and was selected to the All Academic Team with the SIAC. He was named Defensive Player of the Year and Shot Blocker of the Year and received the Senior Award and the All Academic Award. In 2005, TraMarcus Jones was elected as “Mr. Business Administration.” Since college, TraMarcus Jones has served in the outreach ministry of the Tabernacle of Mercy International Church. A glowing profile of TraMarcus Jones was written for the Birmingham News College Fastbreak column by Louis Muro. The article includes quotes from TraMarcus Jones and Coach Roosevelt Sanders. Mr. Jones stressed his parent’s teachings that education came first and that “Education is something that will always be with [you]. Coach Sanders described Jones as one of the most consistent players of the season and noted that, even with his amazing talents, “The best thing about [Jones] is his attitude.”
