Walter Goggins 2024
Walter Goggins is the Circulation Director for Tennessee Valley Media Inc. in Decatur/Florence, AL. Walter is a graduate of Miles College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a focus in Journalism and Public Relations.
Walter is a former President of the Southern Circulation Manager Association. After graduating from Miles, Walter was awarded a Knight-Ridder Fellowship Internship where he worked at the Bradenton Herald, Miami Herald and the Akron Beacon Journal. He would go on to become District Manager at the Anniston Star before moving to Florence, AL to serve as a manager for the Times Daily and advance to his current position as Director for Tennessee Valley Media.
During his time at Miles College Walter was a 4-year starter for the Miles College Golden Bears football team. After starting as a freshman defensive lineman Walter went on to earn 2 nd team SIAC honors his sophomore year. Walter went on to earn preseason all-conference considerations his junior and senior year. Walter also served as Communications Club President, SGA Vice President and Editor of the Milean.
Walter is the husband to Martita Goggins who is an elementary school teacher who holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and a master’s degree in education. They have been married for 17 years. They have three children. Son, Walter Goggins, 2022 all-state AL defensive lineman who now plays for the University of North Alabama, son William Goggins 16 (USA boxing) and Kyra Goggins 16 (acting,
singer, volleyball) who are students at Deshler High School.
