Walter James Holston, Jr. (2012
Walter James Holston, Jr came to Miles College through an athletic scholarship, which led to his participation on the football team. From 1985 - 1990, Mr Holston served the team as defensive tackle and linebacker under Head Coaches Smith and Owens. Mr. Holston earned several awards on the field, including Most Valuable Player, College All-American and SIAC Defensive Player of the Year. Off the field, Mr. Holston was listed in the Who’s Who Among College Students and served as president of the Student Government Association and his fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma, Inc. Walter Holston has taken time out for community involvement since his college days, including service as jail chaplain with the Fayette County, Georgia Justice Center, volunteering at the Lafayette Nursing Home and Dogwood Forest Assisting Living Center and with the Fayette Samaritans Feed the Homeless programs. He also serves as Pastor of Touch Ministries Christian Church in Fayetteville, Georgia. Walter Holston recalls his days at Miles College fondly and loves Miles College Sports. Mr Holston credits his experience at Miles College as one that enabled him to become a great addition to his community.
