Willie Samuels (2007)
Willie E. Samuels was educated in the Birmingham Public School System where he attended Thomas Elementary and C. W. Hayes High School. He attended Queens College in Queens, New York from 1965 - 1968. He was drafted into the United States Army and served from 1968 - 1970. Willie graduated from Miles College in 1973 with a B.S. Degree in Mathematics and a minor in English. While attending Miles College, he was a member of the Golden Bears Basketball Team. He earned an M.S. Degree in Pure and Applied Math from Washington State University and an “A.A.” from UAB. His work experience includes teaching at Pullman High School in Pullman, Washington. He also taught in Bibb County and coached football and softball; a Math Professor at Lawson State, Jefferson State, UAB and Miles College. Presently he is the Head Coach for the boys varsity basketball team and basketball B-team. He is also the head coach for the girls basketball team and softball team as well as the Athletic Director for A.H. Parker High School. His honors include Coach of the Year (basketball); area champion (girls basketball); and final four (boys basketball). He and his wife Karen have three children, Adrian, Anus and Kaylan. His favorite scripture is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. His favorite poem is “Bridge Builder”.
