Xavier Douthard (2012)
Xavier Douthard came to Miles College in 1995 as walk-on player determined to eam an athletic scholarship. He was a member of the football, basketball, baseball and track and field teams. Mr. Douthard’s participation on these sports teams brought him under the leadership of several coaches, including Cecil Leonard (football), Willie Patterson (basketball), Roosevelt Sanders (baseball), John Macon (track and field) and Coach Hatchet Xavier Douthard played on Miles College teams from 1996 - 1999, and was selected in 1997 to the 2nd Team as quarterback by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (“SIAC”). He was also recognized by the SIAC as newcomer of the week four times in 1997. Xavier Douthard has been employed by the Alabama Hospitality Association for the past nine years. He has received many accolades and awards, including the State of Alabama Employee of the Year award, and was a finalist for the State’s Hospitality Employee of the Year award. He participates in community activities, including charity football games, neighborhood cleaning projects, and as a summer youth camp volunteer at East Gadsden Community Center. Mr. Douthard has been involved in fundraising projects for tornado victims in the Rainbow City/Gadsden area. On June 9, 2011, he participated in the Relay for Life, a fundraising event sponsored by the American Cancer Society Xavier Douthard credits Miles College with instilling the values of discipline, hard work, belief and character in his life and for its value in developing him for today’s society He is extremely grateful to his parents, family and friends, and all the coaches and athletic directors at Miles College for helping him develop perseverance, dedication and moral character. Xavier Douthard, dreams came true at Miles College.
